Between vampires and werewolves, demigods and monsters, elves and dragons, demons and slayers, witches and wizards, shelves have been inundated with ancient legends in the last decade. It's almost like our minds have said "Enough of the future! Let's relive the past!" On one hand, those who forget history are likely to repeat it, and if fantastical historical fiction counts as history, there was never a generation who was less likely to repeat history. On the other hand, many young people have been led astray by these books, so much so that some have even come to believe that (for example) the Greek gods are real!
I can't help but wonder why this is happening to modern literature. Yes, the myths are diverse, but at Braveheart Films, we believe that every myth has a foundation in truth. And I personally think that all myths can be traced back to the Benai Ha'Elohim, or sons of god (Genesis 6:1-4), and their children, the Nephilim. Many Christian authors have released novels about the Nephilim lately, including Bryan Davis, Brian Godawa, and Jon Saboe, and now me. Is God warning us that the Nephilim will soon rise again? If any time in American history has felt more ripe for the rise of evil, it is now. Is this a warning, or a strange case of group think?
